Darlings, today we’re diving into one of my all-time favorite blush formulas – the MAC Extra Dimension Blushes! I’ve been obsessed with these beauties for ages now and I’m thrilled to see what real MAC lovers have to say about them in these customer reviews. Get cozy and grab your beverage of choice, because we’re about to go deep!
First off, can we talk about the rave reviews for the shade range and color payoff of these blushes? Reviewer after reviewer gushes about the gorgeous hues – from subtle neutrals like Hushed Tone to bold pops like Rosy Cheeks and Cheeky Bits. No matter your complexion, it sounds like there’s an Extra Dimension shade to give you that perfect flush. As a blush connoisseur myself, I live for a well-curated color collection!
Speaking of that flush, so many of you mentioned the luminous, glowy finish these blushes impart. User Charia says it beautifully: “I am dark skinned and I literally fell in love at first site it gives you that glow and it looks so smooth and natural.” Umm, yes please! I adore blushes that make you look lit-from-within rather than obviously made up. Sounds like Extra Dimension nails that naturally radiant vibe.
The silky, blendable texture also gets top marks across the board. Catherine comments that it has “the perfect combination of rich pigment and subtle sparkle” while Arghavan raves that “They wouldn’t patch and apply really smoothly.” Blendability is non-negotiable for a stellar blush formula in my book. No one wants splotchy, streaky cheeks! I’m thrilled this one sounds like a dream to diffuse and blend out.
Now, this wouldn’t be a balanced review without discussing some drawbacks. A few of you cited issues with the product hardening up and becoming difficult to pick up (a sad fate known as “hard pan”). Jennie laments “I absolutely adore these blushers, but they develop hard pan within a couple of uses so I am constantly having to scrape the product to try to get some use from it.” What a bummer! In my experience, a light hand and keeping oils/damp brushes away from powder products can help prevent that pesky hardening.
On the flip side, some folks like Rumz noted the opposite problem of the blush breaking up too easily: “This is a stunning blush but mines ‘shrunk’ and is no longer attached to its sides :(. I am not sure if I got a bad batch or if someone else has the same issue.” Oof, there’s nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your precious pan of blush crumbling before your eyes. Here’s hoping those product inconsistencies were flukes!
Surprisingly, there were also a couple complaints about lack of staying power, with marie reporting that the color only lasted “10 – 20min. Soooo disappointing for the price and for MAC. Losing my faith in that brand…” Yikes, what an unfortunately short wear time! That’s definitely not the norm based on the majority of these reviews though. Most of you found the Extra Dimension Blushes had great longevity, like qagal3 who shared that “It literally lasts over 10 hours long & has a luminous sheen after it is applied.”
Interestingly, a few savvy makeup lovers noted that these work beautifully as eyeshadows too. Multitasking for the win! Rhi dishes, “I love these blushes (although ive been using telling glow and hushed tone as eyeshadows) they are gentle on dry, sensitive skin, apply easily, long lasting and can be used both for bold and subtle.” Love that versatility – thanks for the hot tip, girl! You know I’ll be experimenting with these on my lids now.
So let’s talk shades – any standouts? Telling Glow seems to be a fan favorite for its peachy perfection, with SabrinaC proclaiming it her “all time favorite but since has been discontinued! Wish it comes back.” Ugh, don’t you hate when brands axe your holy grail? Sunrisevalley also stans Hushed Tone: “I\’ve been using hushed tone daily for the last 2 years and it\’s still going strong! I have so many other blushers but none of them give my nc37 skin the radiance that Hushed Tone gives.” Noted – I’ll definitely be scooping up that gem!
A few of you also called out Just a Pinch as a go-to. Sally explains, “I thought this blush looked a bit too bold when I saw it in the store however when I tried it on, I was very impressed at how well it suited me. It\’s highly pigmented so I only use a small amount but it gives me a nice flush of color to warm up my face. I\’m fair skinned with blonde hair and blue eyes.” Gotta love when something surprises you like that!
For deeper complexions, it sounds like the richer shades are absolute winners. Of course, we need to address the elephant in the room: that price point. At $37 a pop, these blushes are definitely a splurge. Some of you expressed hesitation to take the plunge, like Dev who admits, “At first I was hesitant to purchase due to the price point, however I got them on sale.” I hear you, it’s hard to shell out the big bucks on a whim! But plenty of you found them worthy of the cost. Jane breaks it down: “I\’ve been using them for about a year now, and they still look new so worth the money, can\’t imagine not owning these now.” Tbh, I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for with most makeup. These sound like the type of high-quality, long-lasting product that’s worth investing in!
Though spendy, many of you pointed out that you get a generous amount of product that lasts forever. Aly55 attests, “Used this blusher for years wouldn\’t change to any other it lasts along time and lasts all day love it 🥰” Hey, if something performs well and brings you joy for that long, I’m all for spending a little more! Being able to use the same beloved blush day after day is oddly comforting too – it’s the little things, ya know?
I was also thrilled to see a bunch of you mention how beginner-friendly these blushes are. The buildable pigmentation means you can start with a sheer wash of color and layer up to your desired intensity. KCastle writes, “I love this blush. I was a bit scared that it would be too pink but once I applied it onto my skin with my blush beauty blender I realized this color is just right. Cool thing is if I wanted to make it a darker pink it is definitely buildable.” Fellow newbies, take note – this sounds like the perfect formula to experiment with if you’re just dipping your toes into the wonderful world of blush!

Overall, the consensus on MAC Extra Dimension Blushes seems to be a big ‘ol YAS from makeup lovers across the board. The buttery texture, stunning shade range, and luminous finish clearly warrant the hefty price tag for most of you. I know I’ll personally be adding a few (okay, more than a few) of these to my ever-expanding blush collection. Like I needed an excuse, right?
Of course, everyone’s preferences are different and there’s no such thing as a universal holy grail. Formulas that work for some may fall short for others.
