Hey there beautiful people! Kiera here, your resident makeup junkie back with another eyeshadow palette review. Today we’re talking all about the new Mac Connect In Colour Eye Shadow Palette in the Rose Lens colorway. If you’ve been eyeing this pretty pink number, you’ve come to the right place!
First Impressions
When this palette first landed on my doorstep, I literally squealed with excitement. The packaging is STUNNING. That ombré pink case with the multi-dimensional overlay? Serious heart eyes. It looks so luxe and special, like a little work of art.
I couldn’t wait to open it up and see the shades inside. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint! You get six wearable rosy hues in a mix of creamy mattes and high-shine metallics:
- Sheer Seduction: Pale pink matte
- Rosy Outlook: Soft rosy beige matte
- Sweet Sentiment: Mid-tone mauve matte
- Feel the Love: Rich berry matte
- Heart’s Desire: Rose gold metallic
- Romance Me: Reddish pink metallic
Even just from initial swatches, I could tell the formula was going to be good. The mattes felt smooth and silky, while the metallics had an almost wet-looking sheen. Everything swatched opaque and even in a single pass – always a good sign!
Pigmentation & Texture
Moving on to application – oh my goodness you guys. These eyeshadows are an absolute dream to work with! The four mattes blend like butter, diffusing seamlessly into each other with zero patchiness or skipping. You can build them up from a sheer wash to full intensity with ease.
The metallic shades pack a serious punch too. Heart’s Desire is the perfect glimmering rose gold, while Romance Me is a bold reddish pink that looks stunning all over the lid. Both have a smooth, almost creamy texture that adheres well and gives a foiled effect.
I’m seriously impressed with the pigmentation across the board. A little goes a long way with these shadows, so I actually recommend starting with a light hand and building up as desired. You get amazing color payoff and intensity right from the get-go.
Looks & Versatility
One of the things I love most about the Rose Lens palette is how versatile it is. The shade selection is perfectly curated to create a variety of looks, from soft and romantic to bold and smokey.
For an easy everyday eye, I’ve been buffing Sheer Seduction all over the lid, popping Sweet Sentiment in the crease, and adding a touch of Heart’s Desire in the center of the lid. It creates a beautiful diffused rosy look that’s perfect for work or running errands.
When I want to amp things up, I’ve been doing a halo eye with Feel the Love blended into the outer corner and crease, Romance Me patted all over the center of the lid, and Rosy Outlook as a inner corner highlight. The result is a sultry, dimesional berry smokey eye that’s perfect for date night or a girls’ night out!
I really appreciate that you can get so many distinct looks from this one compact palette. It’s perfect for travel or just streamlining your makeup collection. The monochromatic color story is so chic and effortless too.
Performance & Wear
Okay, so we know these shadows look and feel amazing – but how do they perform throughout the day? I’ve put this palette through its paces and I’m happy to report that it more than delivers!
Over a good eyeshadow primer, I easily get 8+ hours of wear without any creasing, fading, or major fallout. The matte shades retain their vibrance and the metallics still look sparkly and foiled after a full day. By the end of the night, I do notice a bit of glittery fallout from Romance Me, but nothing too crazy.
I also want to mention that I have fairly sensitive eyes and some eyeshadows can irritate them, especially if they have a lot of chunky glitter. I had zero issues with any of the shades in this palette – no itchiness, watering, or irritation at all. They feel lightweight and comfortable on the eyes.
Who Would Like This Palette?
The Rose Lens palette has been getting a ton of love online and I totally see why! I think it would work for so many different people and preferences.
If you love pink eyeshadows, this is obviously a must-have. The rosy color story is just perfection and the formula is top-notch. Even if you’re newer to pinks and berries, I think this is a great way to play with color while still getting a very wearable look.
I also think this palette is incredible for more mature eyes. The satin mattes have a smoothing, almost blurring effect on the lids, while the sophisticated shimmers add a bright, youthful pop. It’s never too late to rock a pink eye look!
Because the shades are so blendable and easy to work with, I’d recommend this palette to eyeshadow beginners and pros alike. You really can’t mess it up – even a quick wash of color looks polished and pretty. At the same time, you can create some seriously stunning, editorial-looking glam with the high-impact metallics.
Packaging & Price
Okay, can we just take a moment to appreciate how freaking BEAUTIFUL this palette is?! The ombré pink case with that cool multi-dimensional overlay is just beyond. It looks and feels so luxe, like something you’d find at a fancy department store. Definitely display-worthy!
Inside the sturdy cardboard compact, you get a large mirror that’s perfect for on-the-go application. You also get 6 generous pans of shadow in a mix of matte and metallic finishes. At $45, it’s definitely a splurge, but I honestly think you’re getting amazing quality and versatility for the price.
Each eyeshadow pan contains 1.5g of product, which is slightly larger than the standard 1.3g you get in a lot of palettes. A little goes a long way too, so I can see this lasting me forever. The slim cardboard packaging is also great for saving space in your makeup collection or tucking into a travel bag.
Compared to other high-end palettes like the Huda Beauty New Nudes ($65 for 18 shades) or Natasha Denona Mini Retro ($25 for 5 shades), I think the Rose Lens palette falls somewhere in the middle in terms of price per shadow. It’s not the most affordable option out there, but you’re getting a great value for an amazing formula and color story.
Final Thoughts
By now, I’m sure you can tell that I’m absolutely smitten with the Mac Connect In Colour Eye Shadow Palette in Rose Lens! It honestly exceeded my expectations in terms of quality, performance, and shade selection.
The eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing, with a creamy texture that just melts into the skin. The rosy color story is so gorgeous and romantic, with the perfect mix of wearable mattes and statement-making metallics. I love that you can create such a wide variety of looks with just this one palette!
While $45 is definitely a lot to spend on an eyeshadow palette, I truly think it’s worth the investment for the amazing formula and versatility you get. The luxe packaging and large pan sizes make it feel even more special too.
If you love pink eyeshadows or simply want to experiment with a rosy monochromatic look, I can’t recommend the Rose Lens palette enough. It’s quickly become one of my most-reached for palettes and I know I’ll be using it for years to come.
I hope this in-depth review was helpful and gave you all the details you need to decide if the Rose Lens palette is right for you! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried it or plan on picking it up.
